Default 8830 No Location ID Field to Enter??? - 11-16-2007, 06:17 AM

I just loaded BB Weather onto my 8830. Went thru the step by step instructions and got to the Options screen and there is no Location ID or Description field to be found. Just the INtervals, Temperture Colors and Disable MDS.

Any ideas? Seems like it didn't load right.

Nevermind. That's what I get for getting up early in the morning to do this stuff.

It helps if you click on the *Empty* Profile field and add that "missing" information there!

Duh!

Thanks for the advice, I know of someone that cannot get BBWeather to work for the life of him, apparently it used to work until he did a OS update. I will point him to this thread and see if it helps him out.

Got everything to work except getting an "Open tunnel - failure" message. Does anybody know the TCP settings for Rogers? Called Rogers - as usual they are unable to help!

To John Clark - thanks for tip to carrier specific TCP settings. After several calls to Rogers, got them to add internet.com access to my account. "Open tunnel - failure" message now has turned into "Malformed address - Returning null connection". Any ideas?

OK - so put it down to sloppiness. All my troubles with TCP settings, etc. was due to an inadvertant space after the "internet.com" in the APN field for Rogers TCP setting. Thanks to all for the expert advice.

BBWeather is a very impressive little program.

I had the same problem. When I got to profiles I clicked the trackball to bring up the menu that says save or close. While that menu was opened I pressed the menu button and it allowed me to add a new profile without locking up. This worked for me I hope it will work for you good luck.

Default Errors on Rogers for 8800 using BBWeather - 05-16-2008, 09:42 AM

Went through all steps above, program installed properly, cities installed, TCP set as internet.com.

Now getting following messages:
1. "Error: Bad or missing query paramaters in request." - Happens after it searches for weather for about 30 seconds.
2. "Error: Invalid url parameter." - Happens when MDS is enabled.

Have turned handset on and off many times and closed/re-opened BBWeather many times. Still can't figure it out.

Help please. Thx

ttp, welcome to the forums.

Please read the thread above. I think you are using the old version of BBWeather and it no longer works.

Follow the instructions.
Download the latest version of BB Weather (0.77) - no other versions will work.
Make sure the APN data is correctly entered
Disable MDS Proxy

It works.

If you haven’t already you can download bbWeather here:
Over The Air Wireless Link: blackberrytools.sourceforge.net/OverTheAir/bbweather-0.74/BBWeather.jad
[TIP: email this link to your 8800 and select link in the email]

When you open bbWeather for the first time it most likely will give you an error that says: “Error. No Weather Profiles specified”. If you hit the menu button to enter your profiles it will crash and freeze your 8800.

Here’s what to do:
If you’re crashed (frozen) reboot your 8800 (hold the off button down for several seconds or remove and replace the battery).

Follow these instructions exactly:

1. Re-launce bbWeather when you see : “Error. No Weather Profiles specified” DO NOT hit the menu button.
2. Click on the trackball to select ok. DO NOT hit on the menu button.
3. Now click the trackball again… the menu you’re looking for will appear.
4. Select "Options" and add your weather information; Location ID: [your zip], description e.g., [your town, state], select “Disable MDS Proxy”, save.
5. Bada-Bing you should now have bbWeather up and running. Note: at this point you can now use the menu button whenever you want without fear of locking the program up.

-Good luck
Thank you so much !!! This worked great on my pearl
