Default 8800 And bleutooth Car kit... it doesent like it - 04-05-2007, 08:28 AM

Ok just got my BB 8800 and very pleased except it doesent seem to like my bluetooth car kit which is an essential when driving in the UK (3 points and a 60 pound fine if your caught driving using your phone)

It pairs perfectly fine, and when an incoming call comes in the car kit bleeps, however if you push the button to answer the call on the car kit, it answers on the phone, but doesent route it through the car kit.

Similarly on every phone ive had before, press the car kit button and it goes into voice dialing. With this it just turns the car kit on and doesent do anything on the phone.

Simply put... if the phone cant be made to work with the car kit... it's going back as I spend 99% of my time on the road and need to at least be able to answer calls.

Please help as I love this thing

Default Car Kit problems with BB 8800 - 04-07-2007, 11:17 AM

I've got a similar problem using a Parrot CK3100 car hit
(high end one). The paring seem to work but after the paring
any trial to access the bluetooth options on the BB causes
a:
Uncaught exception
java.lang.ClassCastException

After that the whole bluetooth environment on the BB
is blocked until a cold restart of the BB.
I really tried anything to work around this ... no success
I'm sure this is a software bug on the BB.

Anyhow is my experience with the new BB, that the device
often has hang ups or similar software exception errors.

To be honest, I would'nt recommend the BB for extensive
use in a car since no external antenna is available nor
I believe that SAP will work as I read on an german
BB forum.

Hi
Had the same problem with Prowave. Went back to my local halfords where I had purchased the Car Kit 2 years previously and they sent the bluetooth dongle away and a week later I received free of charge a new later edition which now works with my 8880.

IanR you will be pleased to know I got teh dongle back today and it now works perfectly. It literally could have been made specifically for the phone as it's absolutley perfect. Thanks for your advice!

Default Parrot CK3100 Works! - 04-24-2007, 01:47 PM

Hello,

Just to let people know, I have a Parrot CK3100, I read on these forums that people had lots of trouble getting the 8800 to work on the CK3100 so I wasn't expecting much... but I gave it a shot... Paired the phone and it just worked! Phonebook etc. all syncs up fine (around 150 contacts) voice dialing works a treat too... The Parrot is running the latest software and the 8800 is running the latest O2 software.
