Is this player able to play more video file types than the regular bb media player? It would be great to have a media player that could play video files without them having to be changed to different file types to get them to work.

The Dollars5 mediaPlayer will play only the formats as supported by the device (same formats that are playable in bundled media player) - so no extra formats support as of now.

Unfortunately RIM has to take multiple licenses which are worth millions to support more media formats - hence there a limitation on supported formats and as a developer we have to use only RIM's API to do anything on a blackberry and are restricted. Hopefully this scenario will change sooner. Not just RIM consider any platform the video have to be transcoded before you play them on mobiles. One more reason being the smaller display size forcing to transcode/resize media.

HELP!! I installed multiplay (at least I think I did) through the app loader. And now when I reload my blackberry I get a timeout error, I don't see multiplay anywhere on my device except in the application list (in the options menu), and I can't access any of my files, it says "Unable to display file (filename.mp3)"

what did I do wrong? How do I fix it? How do I get rid of this error?

what I did was extract all the .cod files, and used the .alx file to load the app.

I think the installation is corrupt, if installed properly - the icon should be shown, please delete and try installing again (better download the files again before you reinstall)

Hello mrgm,
Thanks for your interest with our software.
I did not understand your problem, it would be kind of you to detail on the issue. The software does feature a start and stop button/option, also you have pause while you play, feel free to download and try out - the personal version is always free.

I installed it on my 8800. When trying to view videos full screen, it says could not locate media file. But plays fine regular screen.

The fullscreen video playback is only for multiPlay professional users - the message you might have seen is "Do you want to watch the default video in full screen mode? hit no to continue this video." and it will play the video in normal mode.

Well on the 8800, when the videos get a little long, the processor has a bit of a problem keeping up with the software. So there is a little lag in video, but sound continues to play

does your software eliminate this

I just downloaded your professional media player, and i have to say that I'm loving it so far... Great work! I have one question though, is there a way to raise or lower the volume during full screen playback?

Thanks!

Hello parisot,

Thanks for the kind words and your interest with our products.

Regarding the volume control in full screen - you can use 'Q' to decrease volume and 'P' to increase volume - atp we do not use the side volume keys due to API restrictions - but sooner you can expect that controls too to work with mediaPlayer.

Default Fast forward in full screen mode? - 06-27-2007, 04:31 PM

I am also very happy with Multiplay. Using Mobiola Studio to conver videos, and other than a few short pauses, the videos run smoothly. Any way to fast forward a video while in full screen mode?

Thanks for the kind feedback, glad you liked our products.

At present the fast forward in full screen mode is not available but we have a QA version which we planned for future version to support it via a 5% fast forward using keyboard shortcut (btw you can expect a new release sooner from us sooner and that does not include this shortcut, this is added to the future version if you are interested to test - shoot us an e-mail at [email address] we can provide access to the QA version)

Wow, Glad to see a Treo user - we have also done many consulting to Treo users - some end user products are brewing up. Blackberry is an excellent platform - but we all really miss the convenience of operating with thumb/stylus

Thanks for the feedback on our products and glad you liked it.

Sure will try to accommodate bookmarks too but that would be for version 2.0 (we have planned for v1.5 shortly and you should find many features exciting)

Should you have any suggestions feel free to contact us at [email address] or use our contact form at Dollars 5 Complete » Contact us

I don't know if anyone is still reading this thread, but I just downloaded this app, and although I haven't tried the streaming radio stations yet, I am EXTREMELY pleased with the quality of the music reproduction in comparison to the onboard media player in my 8830. I had given up and just assumed the digital-analog converters were garbage because the music quality was so poor. Bravo for making me a believer!!! Great app, guys-- much thanks!!

Yeah, it's a pretty good app. I haven't been all that impressed with the streaming radio, though. It ties up my device making requests to the servers and then little or nothing would work for me. I just didn't have time to spend on it. I'd try a station, it wouldn't work, stop the play, then I'd wait another 5 minutes for it to be done making server requests.
