is everyone paying 470 for a 8800? or are you getting a hookup somewhere? I just got off the phone with a tmo rep and i had no luck with them. pricing please?

I finally was offered at 349 but with one year contract extension. TMO can't gett the device price lower. Is this a good deal?

Cingular next to my home offered me 99.00 plus 2 yrs contract last week. I have been out of TMo contract for more than 2.5 yrs. I told them that I can't convince myself to spend 350.00 while Cingular offer is so attractive.

This may be another hint that 83XX is coming soon and TMo thinks it can rip me off again soon

I asked the retaining account rep to call me back tomorrow for my decision whether to go with his 349/1 yr offer or not.

I'd say go with cingular... You can't beat 99 with a 2 year agreement anywhere

Who has better coverage in your area? I would base it off that somewhat, if equal... look at cost of device and service together for the whole life of the contract. Then make a decision that you are happy with.

Maybe look into the future and see what makes your future self happy

Another consideration might be data plan pricing.... T-Mo is $19 a month for Unlimited data and Cingular is about $40 a month....

i returned the 8700g i bought with a 2 year extension for $249 ten days ago under the 'buyer's remorse program' (14 calendar days) and then had them override the system to let me get the upgrade price at $349 plus tax and shipping for a total of $389 (shipping may take seven biz days) this is with the same 2-year contract extension.

IMHO opinion the perceived difference in quality between cingular and TMO is an illusion. i compare my service oftentimes with friends who are cingular customers and there doesn't seem to be the slightest difference. actually, tmo is fequently better in reception. it would make total sense NOT to pay Cingular's inflated prices. just my 2 c.

You need to base your carrier decision based on coverage where you need it. That's all there is to it. In my case Cingular does better than TMO. YMMV.

i travel all over the country for work and i have to say i would respectfully disagree. but we're getting off topic. you're right; to each his own. if money is no object to you then go with cingular.

I believe that the reason I was offered $99 from Cingular is 1) Switch from TMo, 2) 2 yr contract with data, 3) minimum monthly voice plan at 59.99 (for 900 min roll-over). The voice plan is the closest one available at Cingular to TMo Get 1000 more national w/ unlimited nights/weekends. Of cause Cingular has roll-over advantage.

The monthly plan with TMo is $40 cheaper than Cingular. This is the reason I hesitated to go with Cingular. Now TMo is offering me with one year contract at $349.00. This definitely seems a good deal to me. I can get a new device next year!

Coverage-wise, both carriers do a pretty good job for areas I live and visit most, domestic and international.

Another reason I want to stay with TMo service is the international roaming. TMo has excellent data roaming service in both Europe and Asia, places I travel most. I noticed that there is a new service (At least to me) called International Data Roaming Service at $19.99/mo. This means that no more extra charge based on KB. It is flat. This is a huge advantage for those who travel a lot internationally and depend on email and phone to get the job done. Cingular charges international data roam based on KB, although this option is available at TMo as well by default for international data roaming (?).

Forgot mention that the data plans are BB Enterprise for both Cingular and TMo. I don't know Cingular's international data roaming service. Anyone having this experience can give his opinion here.
