Default Multiple email accounts on same unit - 04-24-2007, 12:20 AM

This may be a simple question but can I use the 8800 (or any blackberry with latest software) to access BOTH my corporate Exchange email via BES, AND my yahoo mail personal account? I've used a blackberry for years but have only used it to access my corporate email pushed from the BES. I'd love to get my yahoo mail as well if it wouldn't distrupt my corporate config.

Assume the administrator of my corporate BES did not push a policy prohibiting additional email accounts to be installed

Thanks in advance.

You can only have one BES per mobile device. Not to sure adding IMAP, POP, or BIS on top of that. What type of account is that Yahoo?

Using a BlackBerry 8800 with http://www.TheMessagecenter.com as my BES.

Barring any policy pushed to the device you can have one BES account and up to 10 other pop3, IMAP accounts pushed to your device. I have BES and several other accounts. Sometimes there are issues with free Yahoo and Hotmail accounts depending on your service provider. I switched to GMail about 8 months ago and haven't looked back. It's pushed to the device almost instantly, too.

I have my tmo corporate email and my gmail and my old aol accounts. The corporate was the hardest one setting up cuz tmobile blackberry tech support are a bunch of idiots but after some minor headaches, ive got all three working just fine. And John aint kidding. Ill be on my pc composing an email in gmail and ill hit send, before i can even close the window my pearl is vibrating. The gmail is the fastest. AOL is weird. I seem to get them all at night. I never get emails during the day in my AOL account even when theyre dated and timed at 3 that afternoon. Weird.

Long story short, youll have no problem using multiple emails. But only one BES at a time and 10 regular like John said.

Default Thanks! - 04-24-2007, 09:52 AM

Thanks everyone. Amazing how you guys answered this yet Cingular couldn't after about 5 calls to "tech support".

Just for fun, here are some of the thing I was told by the reps when I asked them if I could have both a BES account and a personal account receiving on the same unit.

1. No. One or the other.
2. Yes, but you would have to pay to have two blackberry plans.
3. No, personal email accounts aren't allowed on a Blackberry, they are for business email only.
...and my personal favorite...
4. Yes, but you have to buy a Good Link server which costs several thousand dollars.
