Default Taken the leap to the 8800 (Cingular) - 04-27-2007, 11:36 AM

Well, I've done it. I've switched from the Nextel 7100i (which I've had since days after they came out) to the Cingular 8800. Fortunately the company is footing the bill for the new device and pays for the service, so it was a no brainer to switch.

Going back to the full keyboard will take a little getting used to (maybe an hour).

Will be reading up a lot here to get answers to my questions. First thing will be switching the theme so I can get the BBMessenger icon out front - I use that almost more than email some days and having it buried under the Applications icon is (small) pain.

Now to install all my fun apps.....

The BBM icon is under the applications folder. I turned on the option to have BBM conversations show in the messages icon. Makes it easier to keep up a conversation.

Heres a tip: If you have Dial from Home Screen OFF, you can use the shortcut key of 'N' to get into Blackberry Messenger. I use it all the time because my BMM is buried in my apps folder. I use the shortcut keys so often.

You can setup BBMesenger as your convenience key.

In the Application List what is the version number for BBMessenger? If it is 1.0.94 or something close to that....then it's the wrong version. It needs to be version 4.2..something. You'll need to install it from the OS package in Desktop Manager/Application Loader. This is usually the reason for it showing in the application list but not being visible on the device.

Hold up a sec. You asked me a question and I answered where the icon was found on mine. Sorry you're having a problem with YOUR Messenger, but the sarcasm is NOT welcome.

....And...I told you where to get it in the post above. It must be installed via Application Loader in Desktop Manager. You must have the OS package installed on your PC.
