Default NEWBIE with 2 QUESTIONS ABOUT 8800 - 04-27-2007, 07:39 PM

OK guys/gals i am looking at getting a BB 8800 with service from Cingular. I have never owned a PDA/SMARTPHONE so this is my first stab at this. I have two questions about the BB 8800.

1. Will the 8800 accept GARMIN microSD CARD MAPS?? ( NA CITY NAVIGATOR NT)???

2. Can i browse the internet (ESPN.COM/WEATHER.COM) with the 8800??

I have been looking for the past week on these topics but have gotten nothing.

Thanks in advance.

There's a review of the Garmin that is being developed right now on BlackberryCool. They are only on Part 1 and haven't done Part 2 or 3 yet as of this posting:

Not sure if you use the mps on the microSD card. I think you just download OTA the software and maps get downloaded OTA as well. It is a subscription based model as well--maps last you a year, according to that review, I think.

I'd still go with TeleNav. That seems to be the best solution in North America.

None of Garmin's current solutions for BB include maps on microSD.

You can't just put maps on the BB. You need to have software that's able to read those maps. Right now there are no Garmin programs that are compatible with BB.
