Default Pictures on 8800 - does the media tool convert? - 05-02-2007, 11:25 PM

What is the optimal way to format jpg on the 8800? Does the media tool convert the images to smaller sizes? For example I have some jpg files from my digital SLR that are large file sizes (ie 4MBs). Should I make them smaller (with some image software)before trying to convert with the rim media convert software that ships with the device? I just did not want to waste file size with large jpg files. What is the exact pixel width and height of the 8800? Thanks for any steps to move jpgs over to the 8800 with a PC. Regards Phil

Yes, you will have to resize them yourself (ie not wil the media manager). The screen size is 320x240

If you resize them to 320x240 all you have to do after that is load them via Media Manager or Mass Storage Mode. No conversion needed.

Default What about file sizes? - 05-04-2007, 10:47 PM

Say I have a 7MB jpg file, what happens if I use media tool to move it over to the 8800? Does it reduce the file size? Here I am concerned with file size not pixels. I wanted to save file space on the 8800.
