Default 8830 signal strength - 05-18-2007, 08:11 AM

Has anyone niticed that the 8830 signal strength is similar to the old 7130's?? Mine seems to bounce around full signal to zero all the time. Seems quirky, or is it just me?

WOW!! I am so glad that I dumped verizon.. After having problems on both the 7130e and 8703e with the erratic signal.

Default Software fix? - 05-18-2007, 09:38 AM

I seem to remember this was a problem with the 7130e until a software fix was released. Solved the problem immediately. Funny that its happening again.

I am glad to read this thread but mad that there is no fix, my 8703e does this and it pisses me off, I thought it was due to a bad theme install. But I guess not. If the 8830 does this too, then they can keep it. I've done it all, radio cycle, reboot, wiped device, I even uninstalled the OS with jl_cmder and then re-installed the latest OS to no success.

Not sure what you are talking about, my 7130 rocks for signal.

I've seen this happen on two 8830s but it's not frequent. The signal strength drops to 0 bars then back to full. It does not happen when on a call. The various 8703e's we had didn't seem to do this.

Does it interfere with actual service and/or phone/data quality? I've seen this on my 7130e, but I gave up worrying about it since my calls always go through crisp clear and perfect (as opposed to my cingular service where I would have 5 bars and still have a call dropped).

I have not seen it affect calls or data.
