Default 8830 Mobile.Google.com - 05-20-2007, 09:08 PM

I finally got my 8830 on Friday and spent the weekend putzing around with it. The only thing I can't seem to get to work is google. I am able to select the app's I want and then select o.k. and it says Error 404 - File not found. Has anybody else tried loading mobile.google.com on their 8830?

I had this problem when I first got my 8800. Finally after 2 weeks google fixed the link. This is probably the same problem.

I couldn't get it to work either. Got to the Google page (make sure to leave out www) that recognized the 8830, but couldn't get past that.

Well it's good to know I'm not the only one having the problem.

what's the advantage of using mobile.google.com vs google.com; i always use the latter and have been able to search, click, navigate easily ... unless i'm wrong, i can't imagine there being a huge data connection speed difference on a bb (either edge or evdo) between the mobile and regular google site

Mobile.google.com allows you to load BB specific versions of stuff like google maps, gmail, search, etc. They run natively on the BB without using the browser. Maps and gmail are awesome and really optimized for PDA use.

I got google maps to load by going to googe.com/maps and finding a link there. Sorry don't remember the exact steps/URL...
