Default Happy with my 8830, but have a question - 05-23-2007, 06:14 PM

Hi all... recently acquired an 8830 after many Treo reboots for a year. What a responsive item this Blackberry seems to be and super hot looking too. Hopefully one of you knowledgable folks can help me out here. After the screen light dims it seems I have to hit the button twice to get it back to full stage. Any setting I am missing to get it to ramp up to full with one push or is that just the way it is?

You can turn off the auto feature in the options/screen and have it statically maintain your backlight setting if that's what you're looking for. The double-tap takes it to full brightness regardless though. -Pk

Hi there,

Anyway to prevent getting an SMS text message every time I get a voicemail?

Also, any way to prevent the mailbox with flag icon from displaying notification of new email messages? Since I already get notification of new emails within the globe/e-mail icon.

Thx.

Kill the new mail message icon at Options > General Options > Display New Message Indicator = NO.

I am not sure about the SMS message, I don't get that from my voicemail.

Do you have Verizon? I get an SMS message on my Verizon 8830 for every voicemail. It is duplicative of the voicemail icon on the main screen and contains no information with respect to the caller so it is just cluttering up space.

No, I have TMo, so like I said, I am not sure about how to kill that, but I have seen it asked on here numerous times, I just never really paid attention to it because it doesn't affect me.

I was wrong about the dimming feature... I have edited the post above to correct. It's nice to learn something new!
