I have an 8830 with Verizon. After I received it, I entered the Owner information. I then gave it to my IT guys to put it on the BES. Now I cannot edit the Owner information. Is this something they lock?

Yes, probably.
We don't let our users edit the owner information on any of the devices attached to our BES.

The only thing I let them edit is the name, because that's what shows up on a PIN message.

Actually, we do exactly that as well. We lock the owner information, but not the owner name.

Besides the 8830 I have one my work BES, I also have a personal one with Mailstreet and that one I can edit fine.

That's correct. It's controlled by an IT policy in BES.
