Default Backup to Storage Card? - 05-25-2007, 04:45 PM

Is this possible to do with the 8800? I would LOVE to be able to make a backup so that all I have to do if I am on a weekend trip is bring my BB and a storage card in the event something happens. I hate that I'd have to lose my data for the whole time I am gone instead of just restoring from a card I could keep with me. I don't take my laptop everywhere!

I rarely, if ever, made use of this on my Windows Mobile phone, but I liked knowing that I could if necessary.

There are no backup programs for the BB that I know of. At least there are none listed on RIM or Handango.com. Plus, I don't think the BB is capable of executing applications from the storage card. I think it there for data storage only.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

You can backup to your computer then copy the backup along with bb desktop to the card. If the unfortunate happens you have all the tools needed. Just find a kinko or a public library to get back in business. Of course don't forget the sync cable. As you can see there is a great need for a backup program. Coming from the dark side (palm world) I miss having multiple app choices for any given function. I think bb will get there with the release of devices such as the pearl and the curve more avg users will convert to bb and developers will beging meeting demand.
