Default pop3 / imap client for BB8800 - 05-30-2007, 11:58 AM

Hi,

who can help me with a link to a pop3 / imap client for the BB8800?

I need a separate client, to view my private emails.

Don't want to mix with my business mails

Thanks

Not sure what you are asking. Are you using BIS or BES?

All email will go into the BB "Messages" folder and to its own folder as well. Delete from one and its gone from both. AFAIK, there is no other email client for the BB. What you see is what you get.

There's no such thing. That's not how BlackBerry devices work.
The BlackBerry uses push e-mail, and the messages are delivered to your device wirelessly via BIS, BES or Desktop redirector. There is no client that gets loaded on the device itself.

Gmail is the only stand-alone pop app that I know. But it only works with @gmail.com addresses. You can however forward your email a free gmail email account.

Don't know of any truly stand-alone pop email programs. Other than the one that comes with the BB.

Go to:
gmail.com/app

Good luck.

Here's one I found: Don't know anything about it. Says it works with BlackBerrys. Looks kinda funky though.

thanks.
Currently testing iMobileMail. It works, but very simple functionality.

Strange, that there is nothing else in this world.

Not strange at all.
Such an application is completely unnecessary and defeats the purpose of having a push-email device.

What is the benefit of a standalone Gmail pop3 application? I have a couple of Gmail accounts coming to my 8800 and they all work perfectly.

It's largely unneeded, and really intended for non-Blackberry devices.
(Also, it's not a POP3 client.)

For the GMail "purists", it more closely resembles the look & feel of the actual GMail on the web.
You can also view GMail labels, add stars, report spam, and archive messages using the GMail app.

Hi Mr. penguin3107,

please tell me how to get Mails from an existing mail account (gmx.net) up to this BB device. I don't want to see them in the same box as my business mails (Lotus Notes). It is also nice to be pushed by the business mails, but I don't need this feature for my private mails.

Thanks

Log into BIS on the web for your carrier and set up the e-mail address as one of your 10 allowable addresses.
BlackBerry Internet Service
E-mail will be pushed to your device.
You will have a separate mailbox icon for each BIS account you set up.

Sorry, but there is no way to avoid that. Your business e-mail uses the 'Messages' box on your Blackberry, which is a consolidated email box and gathers mail from all of your accounts.

All e-mail on the Blackberry is push-mail.
