Google Maps hands down. The latest version supports GPS too!

IMO, both are necessary because they serve different purposes. Blackberry maps is better for navigation because it tracks up or north (google maps only tracks ups). Also, the maps are less detailed and tend to load faster. Google maps can look up businesses, POIs, etc., and can call them directly, but the maps load too slowly to keep up, especially at high speeds.

they are both free, you should just try them out to see. My opinion is that they are both good for the price but i use google maps for the poi.

GPS works on BOTH, even with the 8830. It just doesn't work with the Internal GPS receiver in the 8830. You need to use an external GPS puck. That's not likely to change.

Verizon will be releasing a newer version of their VZNavigator for use with the 8830 and internal GPS as a subscription service.
