Default bb desktop redirector - 06-02-2007, 08:12 PM

Hello All,
I am new to the forums and I finally got my first blackberry (8830)! I am loving this thing! One question I had was BIS creates folders onto your bb when you add accounts. I have a gmail/aol account and i see those. I also use the desktop redirector to send my outlook mail at work to my bb. However, everything gets sent to the general messages folder. I would think that another folder would we created but it's not. If i click on view folders, I see my outlook mailbox set up exactly like my outlook mail box at work so I can go to differetn folders. Is there no way to make the messages move to it's own folder that I can show on the desktop like the ones that are automatically created when you use BIS? and btw my work doesn't have BES. I asked them...i am sure everyone got this by now...LOL.

Welcome to BB Forums.

Corporate e-mail, either through BES or the Desktop Redirector, always goes to the Messages folder. No way to move that or change it.

You may want to ask them at your work if they offer POP or "Outlook Web Access".

This way you can setup your blackberry to send and recieve your work emails without have to go through the redirector on your computer. Thats what I do.

If you go thu the BES, I believe they will have access to your personal emails transfered thru your phone.

Wish they had the color options for each email without using BES.

I like the redirect, fast and reliable

I am a potential convert from WM to blackberry. I am in the 30 day window and so far I am very impressed with the 8830. I am in a similar situation with using the redirector vs outlook web access. I set up a yahoo and gmail acct and delivery with these 2 services is essentially instantaneous. With redirector delivery was also nearly instant, however using the web access for outlook there is an 8 minute delay (bummer). I can't use the redirector because I use remote desktop connection almost daily, and when I exit the remote connection the computer logs off and the desktop redirector stops running.

Definitely avoid using redirector unless you really need it for some reason is the first step in troubleshooting...

I love the redirector, my bb sounds before my outlook pops up, or my yahoo account indicates that i have a new message.
