Default 8830 low ringer volume fix - 06-10-2007, 11:33 AM

All,

This is a GREAT program that not only allows you to increase the ringtone volume but also allows you to select the exact segment of the song you want for the ringtone. The program is called miniringtone . The URL is Simprit check it out. I use the +10 db option and I have to actually set my 8830 ringtone volume down to medium!

Thumbs up I Agree - 06-10-2007, 10:26 PM

I also download MiniRingtone from Simprit and it worked perfectly. I tried the free trial for a couple of songs and found it so easy I went ahead and purchased it right away. It's made for the blackberry so it's real easy to use. I increased the song by 14db and it worked great. Plenty loud enough now!!

chascent, When I go to the e-mail link to download, the 8830 is not giving me the option to download the ringtone to my media card. Do you have any idea why? Thanks

Default Simprit Volume Increases - 10-23-2007, 03:32 PM

Hi, Chascent.

Does the Simprit software work on existing ringtones? I have several tones a created myself by chopping up mp3s. The Simprit page said something about ringtones being limited to 5 seconds. Mine are longer than that. All I want to do is increase the volume on the ringtones I already have.

Thanks!

junk... there are much better audio editing software applications out there... I use cool edit 2.1 - old news.

I was excited because i thought this was an application installed on the BB that actually increased the amplitude of the ringer, not just of the file... oh well.

Smile RIM Blackberry 8830 _Ringer Volume Fix - 04-26-2008, 10:56 AM

I picked up my BB 8830 just yesterday. Was able to start making and receiving calls immediately, but was very disappointed with the low default ringer volume set by RIM for incoming calls. Went to the manual, but this was no help. Searched the internet and found a fix that works without the need to download additional audio controls. This fix will increase the ringer volume to a very acceptable level. Note that the "Blackberry" key in point 7 is actually the "Menu" key located just left of the rollerball.

1. From main menu, select "Profiles" (icon looks like a speaker)

2. In Profiles, select "Advanced"

3. Select "Loud" profile

4. Select "Phone" from list

5. Under "Out of Holster", select "Volume" (which is probably set at "Medium" from factory) and change to "High"

6. Repeat Step 5 above for "In Holster" volume setting.

7. Press Blackberry "Menu" key and select "Save".

This fix took me quite a while to locate, but it worked! Hope it helps save someone some time. RIM really should include these instructions in the BASIC section of the manual that comes with the phone!

That's hardly a fix for the quiet ringer, you're simply putting the ringer volume on high. I still think that even on high, the ringer is way too quiet. I can't even use this phone as my alarm for that very reason.

I have the MiniRingtone program and tried everything from +10 to +22 for my music ringtones. Once they got loud enough for me to use as a ringtone without fear of missing every incoming call they had too much distortion. Maybe I wasn't using it correctly.

I downloaded the "Classic" ringtone and found that to be loud enough to hear under just about any condition, including when my 8830 was in my locked car (with windows up) and I was about 12-feet away. In fact, my 8830 now rings louder than just about any other phone I've owned.

Robert7200, thanks for the information, but that's been posted several times. All it does is set the default Loud profile to loud (you're right, one would think that would be the default in the first place), but even the loud "Loud" profile isn't loud enough for many of us. The problem is that the 8830's ringer volume just isn't loud enough to be heard under normal everyday use (at least IMO). I hope it works for you, maybe you were lucky enough to get an 8830 with a decent ringer.

Here is the link for the "Classic" ringer in case anyone is interested. After using it for awhile, now I actually prefer a "ring" to a "tune" when I get a call.

Mededitor,
Still not as loud as the 8703e, but a heck of a lot better. Thanks!

hey just wondering if there is a program of the two mentioned above that would allow me to use the ringtones I have alreay downloaded on my phone, and turn the volume up on them. If there already is, please explain to me how to use th Desktop Manager to turn the volume up on my BlackBerry 8830.
