Default Help needed for my 8800 handheld - 06-17-2007, 05:28 PM

I got my handheld from O2, I ask them to unlock it, and O2 did with fees for sure. I used it with different SIM card (From Dubai) for couples of weeks without any problem. I upgrade OS to 4.2.1.90. Now my phone is locked again. I tried to follow the old instructions but it did not work. The instructions as follow

To unlock the SIM card:

1. On the Blackberry Home screen, select Options (If you are using the 7100t, select Tools>Settings. If you are using Blackberry device Software 4.1, select Options>Advanced Options)
2. Select SIM card.
3. In the SIM card screen, type MEPD (in the case of a Blackberry device with SureType technology as the Blackberry Pearl 8100 Smartphone, Type MEPPD). The five SIM personalisation settings appear on the screen.
4. Type MEP2 (in the case of the 8100, type MEPP2).
5. When prompted, type the unlock code and press the Return key. If you type the unlock code incorrectly three times, the Blackberry device will not function.
6. Turn the wireless antenna on to connect to the wireless network.

I follow the steps however, when I reach step 4 and I press MEP2 nothing will happen as the first time. When I did it first time it asked me for the code.

Anybody can help me since I have the unlocking code, and I really believe in step 4 I have to type something different than MEP2.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

The OS upgrade has nothing to do with the locking of a device. What is going on with the device that is making you think it is locked. From what I have read the reason you are not seeing a box again is because your device is already unlocked.

actually the problem is that you're trying to unlock it using the unlocking instructions for the 8100 Pearl.

Those aren't Pearl-specific as far as I can tell.

What does the screen say after step 3?

Before Typing step 3 It gives me an ID number. after Typing in step 3 it gives "Personalization" and below it as follow
SIM Disabled
network Disabled
Network Subset Disabled
Service provider Disabled

The unit is unlocked already. What makes you think it is not?
