Question Is there a way to do a WIRELESS SYNC with OUTLOOK on the 8830? - 06-19-2007, 02:25 PM

Is there a way to wirelessly sync with Outlook using the 8830 Verizon? I do not have Exchange or BES and simply want a way to update wirelessly automatically. Is there a way to do so? Thanks for your help!

Sorry, but I think you are out of luck if you want a wireless sync solution. I feel that getting an exchange hosting service with BES on top of it is worth it. I guess it depends on your job and needs if you want to shell out the extra money every month.

Are there any services that a consumer can buy to get BES or some sort of over-the-air sync?

Default Hosted BES - 06-19-2007, 06:49 PM

Try hosted BES from http://www.exchangemymail.com/ or MailStreet Exchange Hosting, Email Outsourcing using Microsoft Exchange 2007 Server,Outsource Corporate Email. You will need to have the entire domain there, which means all emails on one domain would need to be hosted as well.

20.00 a month estimated

Do you mean wirelessly sync email? That depends. Do you use Hotmail, Yahoo, AOL, Gmail, Comcast, etc. or does your email server support POP/IMAP?

If so, then you can use BIS (Blackberry Internet Service) to sync email wirelessly.

Go here to register and configure:
https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=vzw

You cannot wirelessly sync your Calendar, Tasks & Contacts in Outlook without BES or some other hosted service.

You can't sync wirelessly with BIS. Email doesn't sync on any BB (what I think 2 Samuel 22 means) for one thing but wireless sync of other items is only available with BES.

MailStreet -- and possibly some other hosted BES providers -- can set you up with a split domain if you don't want to have them set up as the mail handler for your entire domain. There are, however, some caveats and features not supported with split domains -- ask them for details.
