On a similar note, I uploaded hebrew fonts onto my 8800 and I can now view web pages in Hebrew....but is there a way to load mp3's with hebrew file names and they will be recognized? Currently, when I load a hebrew mp3's onto the berry, it renames the file to some random numbers and letters.

To enter hebrew you first have to have hebrew installed in your OS. If you need help with that its another story. To switch between languages you just hit alt and then enter. There are two options for hebrew. One is the default hebrew keyboard if you know it by heart. The second allows you to hit the english keys that sound like the hebrew letters. This is touch and go and does not always work. Especially since not all hebrew letters have their counterparts in english.

Default The Treital Site DOES work - 07-11-2007, 07:30 AM

I was up til 2:00AM this morning trying to put the Hebrew on my Verizon Blackberry 8830. It was because of my own haste that I was unsuccessful the first six times or so. I finally slowed slowed down and paid very close attention to the __ in stead of the _. It made all of the difference in the world. If anyone is having problems feel free to email me and I will see what I can do to help. I understand your frustration.

This is the 1st Blackberry I have ever owned, why did I wait so long!

I am not sure if any of the other responses was on point but you got me curious and finally found something that might replace Jcal which I have been using on my HP200 palmtop for years and also on my desktop (good ol' dos)

i deleted them a long time ago. find a multi language OS. they almost all have hebrew.

By the way. Jewish Lessons for the BlackBerry has a siddur, chumash, tehillim and much more using a hebrew e-reader they made. Excellent in my opinion.

Give it a try - I don't think you would do any permanent damage - it works fine on my 8830

Default hebrew for blackberry - 07-08-2008, 04:38 AM

what u need to do is to install the desktop software in the multi languge edition and the the handled software in the multi languge also.
u can find it in the blackberry site just look for it under the downloads section, i for example installed the 4.2 version of the desktop manager in the multi languge (not the new 4.3) and the handled software of some cellular operator named rogers ( i think its in australia), anyway once u have those 2 installed , preform a backup before u do anything !!! , the go to the application loader in the desktop manager and follow the steps, check the boxes next to the languge u want to install and it should enable the hebrew reading and writing.
by the way the operation will backup your setting before it does anything ,so the backup u are doing is just in case anything goes wrong.

Unfortunately there is extremely poor Hebrew and unidirectional support on the Blackberry. I had a myriad of different readers, documents and other Hebrew items for the Palm which was a joy to use from a functional standpoint. Numerous different Hebrew-English dictionaries, etc. Unfortunately there is no Hebrew-English bidirectional dictionary and the companies that might put it out all said they don't plan on creating one for the Blackberry any time soon. Sad but true.

try pressing the alt+enter keys to change the input language.

or u can open a new memo (just as an example), then press the menu button, and look for an option called "change language".

if u have it then u r set, if not u have to do the whole process again. like i said i did it with the 4.2 version of the desktop manager. i tried with the 4.3 but i had no luck.
make sure u downloaded the multi language versions.

p.s i cant replay to your private massage because the " rules" of this forums. sorry.

you will need to get the hebrew cods from another 88xx series OS and then use the javaloader to load them.

basicly you can edit your autotxt to hebrew words,

like when you want to send your BB pin you type in

mypin then space and yourpin shows up

so what i did was i emailed my self hebrew txts

and replaced them on aututxt

for example now when i type ma and then hit the space

butten מה comes up.

takes a lil time but its worth it

(you edit autotxt by gettin into a conversation on your bbm and hit the menu button then edit auto txt then new and replace what you want with what you copied )
