Default So... My contacts are all screwed up... Help anyone? - 06-25-2007, 03:45 PM

So... My contacts are all screwed up.
Here's the scenario; I had a Morotola V551 with 50+ contacts and multiple numbers for each. When I knew I was getting the BB, I copied all contacts from the phone to the SIM. Then when I finally got the BB unlocked, I put the SIM in and loaded the contacts. Problem is... it saved each number as an individual item, and is missing the "type" of number (work, home, mobile, etc.). This will be a real PITA for me to fix on the phone itself (100+ numbers = very sore fingers).
These numbers are NOT in my MS Outlook. So... I'm asking the all knowing BB Forum members if there is a way for me to modify my contacts on a PC? ...or if anyone sees a better/easier way for me to fix this situation without getting finger cramps, and having to call each contact to determine what numbers I have (which one is Work vs. Mobile, etc.)

Help is much appreciated!

Whenever you send data to your SIM card (regardless of device/carrier, etc.) it stores that information as text/data and does not associate any "type" of information with it, i.e. mobile, home, etc.

Rather than spending a large amount of time retyping and categorizing on your BB I would recommend that you install DM on your computer, import the data from your BB to Outlook and then edit the contacts from there. Re-sync and you will be good to go.

Welcome to the forums as well, best of luck!

Sounds good. I'll give that a shot. Thx!
