Currrently, under Options/Status it shows I have 9 MB free.

Last week it showed 11MB free ; A week before that it showed 13MB free and a month ago it was about 16 MB free!

So I seem to be losing about 2MB per week...but nothing has changed!:

• I have no new apps ( in fact I cannot install any per BES policy)
• I have no media files stored
• I have my messages set to keep only for for 30 days and its been that way for months)
• My data base sizes (under Options/Status/Menu) shows 3.6MB in total.which has also been that way for months.

Why I am losing free space?

How do I get it back??

Mediaman, I've got the same problem on my 7100i. I don't know if there is a better way to clean junk from the memory, but here is how I do it.

Find an OTA link for a piece of software you don't really care about having on your BB, and install it. You can also do this via Desktop Manager.

As soon as it's installed on your device, uninstall/delete it. The BB will reboot, and when it comes back up, your memory should be back to a higher available amount.

Folks, are there better ways?

I saw an app for the pearl that was for soft reboot, might that work?

ma077146--you might be on to something there, but it is a lot less complicated to just pull the battery while powered on and reboot...

I also have seen recommendations to do an alt+shift+del , to reboot , but it didnt do any good in my case.

How do I delete the 2MB sample video???.

I could not do it on the blackberry with menu option or with jsut the del key) and I could not do it when conencted to the desktop manager and it did not show my the Preloaded Videos!!!...it only shownd my what is under Device Memory ( where I dont have anything anyway).

Whats the trick?

Alt + (right)Shift + Delete does work on the 8800. Do it twice in a row if necessary.

Yes there is a soft reboot app, installs an icon to your home screen.

There has been some debate on the board here in the past in the difference and the value of:
a- Battery Pull Reboot
b- Alt + Shift + Delete Reboot
c- Soft Reset Application

Turning a BB on and off via the power on/off is nothing the same as the above three practices.

Honestly, they all three do about the same. I tend to pull the battery on mine, because I noticed a bit more memory cache cleared with the battery pull than the other two.
