I'm on T-Mobile US, using an 8800 and upgrading to this release (Vodafone 101). Do I use the edited BlackBerry.alx and LBS.alx from T-Mobile or Vodafone?

Use the .alx that matches your OS version number under the correct BB model number (pay little attention to the carrier name.)

Im on T-Mobile,

I think there is a conflict with this software and the T-Mobile network because my audio drops out regularly to where people cant hear me after a long conversation for about 10-20 seconds.

This was never the case on the older OS I was using,

Anyone else experiencing this?

The vendor.xml file simply tells Desktop Manager to only load that carrier's OS to that carrier's model BB. Nothing is lost by removing it.

I recently upgraded to the BB 8800 from ATT and was told about this forum from the sales agent. If I upgrade the OS as described above do I download all three downloads and install or do I download and install indvidually? Thanks for your help.

well after a few days with this OS and a couple of re-installs (screen balnks here and there for a second and SMS takes time to go, web is slower and getting errors) now I think I am going to try the AT&T release and see what happens with that one.

Did the AT&T OS fix the problems you were having?

So far the at&t version has been holding good. But telenav stoped working and I had to download the newer version. Still having a bit of an issue when it comes to media net and browser connection as it is taking a long time (side by side on another BB, theother wored and mine came back no connection).

I had the same problem with slower load speeds. I kinda just attribute it to the large number of iPhone ppl using up the EDGE bandwidth. AT&T programmed their towers to give priority to iPhone users who loading web content etc ...

I am experiencing this exact problem. It's super obnoxious. A google search (that took me to pinstack) leads me to believe that it is a software issue with some of these versions, but depending on what region you're in (I'm in Denver), you might not run into it. I'm going to load the old T-mobile OS back on when I get home from work, hopefully it will go away.

Color me skeptical on that. Is that just a rumor you heard, or can you point to some solid evidence and statements to that effect somewhere? I'm generally doubting that's true, but **if** it is, and the Apple fanboys with iPhones are really being given preference over long-term AT&T-->Cingular-->AT&T customers, then I'd sure like to know it to raise holy hell with them. FWIW, I haven't seen any noticable differences in speed before/after the iPhone release date.

I seriously highly doubt it. Especially coming from an iPhone to an 8800. I did not notice any speed difference in the Edge service.

I know it might be annoying, but any news for a 4.2.2.X version for the 8800?

I'm a little confused:

What is the latest for a GSM 8800?

Rogers 8800M_PBr4.2.1_rel138_PL2.3.0.72_A4.2.1.90_Rogers. exe

thats on the sticky of this post or

Vodaphone 8800M_PBr4[1].2.1_rel161_2.3.0.80_A4.2.1.101.exe

thats listed in the 8800 forum?

Ok, now I'm confused. This sticky thread IS for the 4.2.1.101 for Vodafone and has been for a month.

**and it is the latest as of today.

Has anyone found anything better about this firmware? Have the latest AT&T and was wondering if it pays to upgrade to this one. Thanks

Unhappy Problems with the SD Memory Card - 08-13-2007, 11:58 AM

After I successfully made the Update of the OS, I am having problems with my Memory Card.

I have installed a 2 Gb SanDisk Card.

I have tried everything. I try to format it bud my BB says that A media card is not presently inserted in the device.

I insert the Memory Card in my PC and I could format it (using FAT).

Do you have the card install before the OS upgrade?

If this is the 1st time the card install, check under OPTION>ADVANCE OPTIONS>MEDIA CARD>

Media card support>ON
Encryption mode>NONE
Mass storage mode support>ON
Auto enable mass storage mode when connected>YES

I did have the Card install before the OS upgraded.

When I restart the BB, It starts displaying Media Card Inserted, Media Card Extracted and Format the Media Card.

I have tried to format it but I don't see that option in the menu.

If I want to install the cingular OS instead of the Verifone (Already installed) how can I do that? I already download the Cingular OS and installed in my PC.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8800/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Try format it in a PC with FAT32, that's how I did mine.

I have this OS with the Verizon theme installed without any problems. It's been going strong for at least a month. My device is a Cingular 8800.

BTW, anyone else with an 8800 feel like they been forgotten and left behind with OS upgrades? RIM already has version 4.3 available for upcoming devices and not even 4.2.2 for the 8800?

Man, I hear ya about that 4.2.2 - I'm dyin' for it to come around for my 8800. The 8820 OS, sadly, will not work for 8800 devices (doesn't work like the trick for loading the 8703 or 8707 OS versions onto an 8700).

I've since reverted back to the T-Mobile US release of the software for my 8800. This one would have many dropouts during calls and tethering via USB on XP would disconnect many times. Back to great call quality and no disconnects.

Anyone else experience the same, and if so, what software versions have you tried?

That's a typo. It's really 4.2.1.90 not 4.2.2.90. Sorry......

Where did you find this new release? I just scoured both blackberry.com and logged in to T-Mobile and see nothing.

Link, please?
