Default Sprint 8830: SMS config - 07-12-2007, 01:53 PM

I'm having issues with configuring SMS messages on my 8830. I go into Options->SMS Text, and change the "Delivery Reports" to "on." When I attempt to save, the phone complains "Invalid Service Center specified." This field is blank on the phone...

Any ideas what I should put as the "service center" on this screen?

thanks
Gary

That is carrier specific, so you need to call Sprint to determine. For some carriers the service center number is regional, as well.

Sprint was clueless... seems its a GSM specific thing (which would explain why the option is on the 8830 but not the 8703e.) Putting in 10 zero's made it happy...
(I'm not using the GSM radio for anything anytime soon.)

The service center should be your own Cell Phone number.

I don't believe the service center is not your cell phone number. For instance, mine is a 206 area code. My phone is 205 area code.

well like i said at first, then, it varies by carrier. On my TMo and Cingy, they are some odd number.

For our carrier (TIM Italy), it is the same number for all of our BB devices. I had a user with the same problem, and putting in the number I got off one of the other BlackBerries worked like a charm.

Should be your cell number in both entries. This allows the person who receives you SMS to call back directly from the message.
