Default Blackberry pearl sending random text messages - 07-28-2007, 04:27 AM

Hi,

New to the board and have found lots of great info. To make a long story short, my wife's 8100 has been on the fritz sending random text messages multiple times by itself. I have used JL_Cmder to wipe, reload OS and restore her phone and still the same fritz with sending the same text messages my wife may have sent earlier to a friend multiple times to that person by itself. The only way for it to keep from doing it is locking it. It also does other random scrolling and dialing of phone numbers as well without any user interface. I've taken the track ball out and tried to clean it thinking that might have something to do with it, but no dice. I'm at a complete loss as to what to do. This is a Cingular phone. She just had an unlocked T-mobile which did the exact same thing. The cingular I got had some cosmetic damage, but I transfered all the good parts, including the circuit board itself into her phone. The only two things, besides the cosmetic parts, that carried over from the original t-mobile unlocked to the cingular phone was her SIM card and the trackball. I'm curious if anybody else has experienced this problem and if so, does anybody have a solution. Any help would be very much appreciated. I'm thinking it could some how be the trackball, but I'm still at a lost and shooting in the dark. Thanks in advance.

First, welcome to the Forum.
It sounds like you already have the solution--keep it locked. Does she keep the Pearl in a purse or pocket without a case or holster? If so, she needs a case. Maybe then it would not need to locked.
Good luck.
