Question New 8830 - Some Questions - 07-28-2007, 01:17 PM

I made the switch from Treo to Blackberry yesterday. So far I really like it. I have a couple of newbie questions, though:

First, if I wander away from my Bluetooth headset, my phone drops the connection as I would expect, but when I get the phone back in range, it doesn't automatically pair up again. I have to manually pair it up again to get it to recognize. My Treo would just pick it back up when it came in range again. What gives?

Second, is there a way to make a signature for outgoing emails?

Thanks much ahead.

Don't know about the first question, but go to https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=vzw and once you sign in click on the e-mail account that you want to edit, and then change the signature. Good luck!

It's always been said that the BB would pick up the headset again but i've never had it work. I plan on repairing after getting out of range.

Wow, that kind of sucks. And a little unique it seems. One of the great aspects of Bluetooth devices is their ability to sync up and pair up automatically without undo intervention.

...It's not enough for me to take the Blackberry back, but it is disappointing.

Here's another, as long as I'm pesterin'...

How the heck do you adjust ringer volume? I've tried all kinds of things - and the user's guide doesn't seem to list anything.

HELP! I can't hear when someone calls!

You need to go into the Profiles and edit the active profile to adjust the 'phone' volume.

Never mind. Searching is our friend.

Seems there is a bit of an issue with that, though.

Yes, same here on the BT connection, when I walk back into range my earpiece makes a slight beep to let me know I am reconnected. In your BT Options, make sure the device you are using (earpiece) is listed as "trusted", if not make it so.

Pearl with 4.2.1.101 and Blackberry 655 (Plantronics) BT headset. When I walk out of range and walk back, the headset does not reconnect. It's set to "trusted" and Encryption "disabled." I can go to the Bluetooth Menu and click on "connect" and it will reconnect, but it doesn't do it on it's own.

I'm pretty much the same as Clark. My Sony Ericsson HBH-610 is set to yes for Trusted, Encryption is enabled, and Echo Control is Automatic. It does not seem to want to pick back up after leaving range and I have to manually reset it.

I just noticed something quite by accident. I stepped out of range and when I got back, I had lost my Bluetooth connection to my headset. I pushed the button on my headset - and it reconnected. Interesting. My Treo didn't require me to do that, but it's okay. It's easier than going through the menu. Again, I have the HBH-610 headset.

Not sure if this is any assistance, but on my Pearl, it does reconnect without any input. When I walk out of range, the headset disconnects. Walk back in range, and within seconds, it reconnects with my Pearl.

Not sure why your bb wouldn't work the same, but it isn't a blackberry specific prob.

I can resist anything but temptation.
