Default Help with Tether 8800 to Laptop - 07-28-2007, 05:39 PM

I know this has probably been ask before but I couldn't find a good posting that works. So I will ask this again.

I have a BB 8800 from AT&T( formerly Cingular) and would like to tether it to my laptop allowing me to surf the Internet on my laptop through the BB. My old PDA worked great for this, but the BB doesn't seem to connect. I have the Blackberry data plan (Unlimited) so there shouldn't be problems there. I've tried to used the Cingular manager and the BB desktop manager without any luck. The BB desktop sync just fine with the BB. I just can't connect using the Internet section.

I've not found anything about the 8800 that indicates you can connect to a laptop using a USB cable through your BB.

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Default Help with tether 8800 to laptop - 07-28-2007, 10:28 PM

Thanks John for that reply. I found this earlier and it was no help. I did go back through it again but it still doesn't connect. I've now tried to use USB and Bluetooth. Niether one connect. The bluetooth goes all the way to the username and password before it times out and gives me an error. I'm starting to think the blackberry data plan is connected differently then the regular data plans. I noticed the username all say to use "GPRS" in them. My BB is connecting using Edge. Not sure if that makes a difference. Thanks for the help. Hope someone can give me other suggestions that may help.

Not sure. I'm new to the blackberry data plans. I know evreything worked on the media data plan with my previous phone. Now I have blackberry plan and I can't connect on the internet through the phone. Internet works on the BB, I can connect a home network wire to the laptop, everything works. I setup for internet through the BB and loose the laptop browsing avalibility. I've seen a post were others have made theirs work, but not sure what data plan they were on. Thanks for the help.

I don't think you understand. You need to have 2 yes two data plans one for your blackberry and one for your laptop to connect to your data plan through your blackberry.

Again 2 data plans are required Blackberry data and Laptop data.
You should actually get one of these plans.
