So this does not prompt for a pop email? It shouldn't for your blackberry account but should for your others.

I found that the phone is louder if the screen is facing inside rather than outside when put into the holster. I did the other profile modifications right after I got the phone.

I had the same thing happen to me. You just have to go into the Email options and change it back. That setting is under Email Reconcillation.

You can report it to Verizon, but I'll bet you a million that you'll probably run into someone who doesn't even know what you're talking about. Then they'll setup for a callback from a higher level tech, but that tech will tell you it's a RIM problem and to take it up with them, but neglect to connect you to RIM directly and ask you to call them yourself, which will do nothing because they won't take a support call unless you have a support contract.
Welcome to Verizon Customer Care.

We have a verizon POC that i spoke with today. He is looking into the issue now. I will go ahead and email rim though and make them aware of the problem. I am about to try and roll back the handheld software on my device to double confirm our findings. That doesn't seem like much of a fix though.
If anyone else comes across this let me know if you find any new knowledge about it. Thanks.

The delete from server option is gone after the.148 update, I do hope its a bug and will be patched

It's not a bug. Set your Email Reconciliation to Prompt on Delete and it will prompt you.

Just to confirm what i have been reading...the .148 update adds A2DP and subtracts Device GPS/BlackBerry Maps functionality. Is BB Maps dependent upon GPS, and not just a web based app alternative to Google?

Your Verizon 8830 does NOT have internal GPS ability (Verizon disables the internal GPS on your device and it can't be enabled.) You can use Blackberry Maps but with no GPS location services. You can add a Bluetooth GPS receiver and get the functionality that way.

The .148 only causes the issue with maps getting a java error when the 8830 is paired with a bluetooth smard card reader. I'm not sure what the effect of other bluetooth devices is. Bluetooth is disabled by our server except we make exceptions for users using the smartcard readers. As soon as you unpair, viola. Maps work again.

Yes. I'm using a Sprint 8830, and I loaded the Verizon software on it. Once you download/install the VZ load, delete your vendor.xml file and start the Desktop Manager. When you run the Applicatoin Loader, you'll backup the BB and then the new OS will be added, and the data restored.

Having serious issues with my 8830 since the new os .148 update. the agenda view starts off in July of 2006,, it kind of starts up on the current day, flickers organizing data and goes back to july of 2006,,, I have a case number with rim and they are currently ivestigating... I emailed a rim tech my .ipd file so they can try putting it on an 8830 and do the u pdate and see it this is an issue with the os.... all was ok with the old os (.66) so I suspect there is some issue with the agenda view,, the daily, weekly and montly view all point to the present day correctly, this just happens in agenda view. ONe interesting thing is that if I put in an appt within a few days before the present day, then agenda view DOES go correctly to the present day....I have no prior appts there except reocurring all day events.

I don't have this problem. There may be corrupt calendar data from way back in the day which might be causing you issues. I suggest wiping the calendar database with app loader and resync.

Has anyone noticed since the new Verizon update that the escalating ring volume has been disabled? I talked with a RIM tech last night and they said it was disabled on purpose and was never supposed to be available on the 8830.
Sounds weird to me. Why would it not be an option?
Am I the only one this is happening to??

I had that problem at first as well, in agenda view it was always taking me to a date many months ago. I deleted the 2 appointments (both happened to be multi day events that started on that day) and synched to Outlook and the problem has not reappeared.
