Default cannot install the softwares into micro SD card? - 08-18-2007, 12:23 AM

cannot install the softwares into micro SD card!!!! essentially 64m bulit-in memory is too small.

how come RIM will design BB like this?
they design the SD slot for what ? only for storing mp3, videos?

The SD card is only for media. You can't install applications, 3rd party software, or store messages on it.

It's just for media. That's the way RIM designed it.

that's also why 3rd party sofewares are so rare

i do believe there will be a new ROM can support installing applications on SD card later...

I was kind of blown away by this myself, as the Treo 650 could install some apps on the media card. But most apps for the BB are very small. The only one that takes up a lot of space on mine is the oxford dictionary. And in their case, I'd be willing to bet they could design it so the app is on the internal memory, and the dictionary database is on the SD card. Wish they would try that as it is so huge I ended up taking it off, and it was one of my favorite, if not favorite, applications of all time.
