Default Weird 8830 issue - 08-18-2007, 12:49 AM

Well I turned my phone off and back on, and usually where it showed my signal it said off.. I went and looked and network status and everything was was off.. no service period was listed. and I made sure i had it turned on and it was... Well I decided to turn restart the phone and while it was shutting down it froze at the yellow sprint screen.... I took the battery out and restarted and everything was normal again.... kinda worries me.

Try placing a call to your VM. It might ask you if you want to restore all connections. If it does, obiously say yes.

I have been on hold waiting for a Sprint rep for a half hour... We will see what they say. This issue with the combined issue of me not able to get the data plan to be recognized by my phone is driving me crazy.

Ok that call was pointless. I waited for 41 minutes for technical support. She asks me my problem and first thing she says is let me transfer you to the super duper technical support or whatever they were called. So she does that and then it tells my their closed. WTF. Why was I waiting for 41 minutes in the tech support area only to be told they were closed. Thats awesome.

I have another question for you. Why are you turning off your phone so much? I know this doesn't really help your problem, but it could simply be a bug in the software. You could get around the problem for now by simply not turning it off. If you simply don't want to take any calls you can set the audio profile to off or simply turn the radio off.

Never call *2 with a BlackBerry issue on Sprint. The basic reps are clueless.

Call 1-877-654-9111. That is a direct number to business device (BB, Treo, etc) tech support. You may get long hold times on the weekends, but they at least know what they are talking about and you can cut out the time you spend on hold with basic CS.

Try backing up your 8830. Completely reset your system and say yes to deleting everything, reinstall the software then restore what you've backed up and let me know if that works.

I just turned it off once to see how long it took etc etc and that happened so now I have done more times to see if the problem repeats itself. Usually I would never turn off the phone...but seems like a problem.
