Default Deletion of E-mails in Outlook - 08-20-2007, 01:40 PM

I know that if I delete an e-mail on my Blackberry, the message will be removed from Outlook. I delete e-mails out of Outlook however, and should those e-mails be removed from my Blackberry, or do they stay?

Normally I am out and about, or on the road, and just delete them on my Blackberry, but I delete them in Outlook, and they are still sitting on my Blackberry. Should they be removed from my Blackberry or do they normally stay on the device.

Please advise.

Since email doesn't sync, if you delete on Outlook, the mail would stay on the BB.ot sure if you can reconcile from Outlook to the BB. Perhaps one of the experts here can shed some light on it.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I believe they will delete, but it may take a while. And you don't want to delete them permanently from Outlook. I believe they need to be in the Deleted Items folder so they can be reconciled properly.

They will not reconcile between Outlook and BB if you are on BIS. If this is BES I believe they will.

Which are you on, BES or BIS?

I can confirm that, on BES, messages deleted in Outlook will delete on the Blackberry ONLY if you "Delete" them in Outlook. If you "Permanently Delete" in Outlook, it will not delete on the device.

I know this because I am used to using Permanent Delete in Outlook (for personal messages and just to keep my Deleted Items clean). Every time I do a Shift-Delete in Outlook (it has been hard to break the habit), the message stays on my BB until I delete it.

I use BES and BIS. I was referring to BES though.

Also, if you're on BES, it depends on the Delete On setting on your BB. I intentionally have mine to Handheld only. You can choose either way.
