Post Cannot Hibernate, Windows XP Pro..... - 08-27-2007, 07:51 AM

I am unable to put a Windows XP Pro system into hibernation after loading the Blackberry Desktop Manager and connecting the BB Device. I am receiving the error:

"System Hibernation Failed: The device driver 'RIM Virtual Serial Port (COM4)' device is preventing the machine from entering hibernation. Please close all applications and try again. If the problem persists, you may need to update this driver."

I have the latest and greatest version of the Desktop Manager installed. I can disable COM4, but that defeats the purpose. I need to be able to have the handheld and the BB communicate/synch and also have the functionality of XP hibernation. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Does the same problem happen when the Desktop Manager is closed, just temporarily?

Yes, it is whatever driver is running the RIM virtual com4 port. The way the software sets up it will use the 1st available COM port it finds, in this case COM4, the driver runs as a background process......

You may need to contact RIM about this.
