Default How to type TAB character on 8830 - 08-30-2007, 02:16 PM

I'm sure that I've overlooked this little bit of information somewhere in all the FAQs, forum posts and documentation, but I've decided to quit wasting time and just ask.

How do I enter a TAB character from the 8830 keyboard. My old Treo used Shift-Space, but I can't come up with a combination that seems to work on the 8830. Thank you in advance.

Jay

What application are you using that requires a tab? Blackberry is text-based. There's no tab character. However, if you are just looking to format, you can create your own autotext entry, and do something like set 'tt' to be replaced by 5 spaces or something along those lines...

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8830/4.2.2 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/104)

I use memos extensively, and use the TAB character to keep columns indented evenly. With a mono-spaced font, the spaces work just fine. Not so with a proportional font. My previous PDA (Treo) had the TAB character. Very disappointing...
