Default SIM card and email - 09-14-2007, 06:22 PM

I am traveling to India. I have the BB 8830 world edition. I am thinking about getting a SIM card for use while there. My question is: can I get my email while there on the BB using the SIM card?

1) You have to ensure that your 8830 is SIM card unlocked
2) The local SIM card would have to have a BlackBerry Data Plan enabled. Not as easy as it sounds.

What are your carriers roaming charges?

The Sprint 8830 is sold SIM unlocked. I don't think any of the other carriers do that.

you can unlock your BB with t-obile or AT&T like any other phone if you are with them for at least 60 days. Then getting a SIM card that gives good rates AND that is compatible for BB data is more rare...I found call-in-europe.com where their sim cards are gsm, works on BB and thei have interesting calling plans. More specialized for europe though but it works worldwide.
