Welcome to the forums.

Have you set up your BIS (Blackberry Internet Service) account via Verizon's website? That's how you can get your comcast email sent to your Blackberry.

First of all, make sure you read the FAQ. Many of your questions will probably be answered there.

Make sure you have the BB data plan. You need that for Internet and email. Once that is properly provisioned, you should have the browser.

To set up your personal email - POP3 and IMAP, you need to go to your carrier's BIS site. Since you have Verizon, navigate to: https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html?brand=vzw

Thanks for the reply my other issue is - I see the icon for browser and when I click it I can go to accuweather and some other sites but for some reason theres no place for me to type www for an addy I want to go to - also since I posted that msg I have gotten a few new icons on my blackberry one is email settings and the other is browser they werent there before - I guess i need to toy around - when I turned on the palm treo it automatically had everything ready and it was a piece of cake this seems a little more complicated, one more question when I checked my email on my palm before I would get msgs even when I wasnt in my email that said you have 2 new msgs or somethign similar does the blackberry do that?

When you get into the browser, click the menu key (left of the trackball) and click Go To. You can then type in an address and click the trackball to go to the site.

As for email, yes, when you get new mail you'll see an envelope icon at the top of the screen with a number next to it (indicating number of unread messages).

So when you click on the Messages icon you don't see any messages? Most devices have default 'welcome' messages that may show as new messages.

If you have Outlook open and use IE, then BIS will get the info from Outlook automatically.

Make sure you have "Leave Messages on Server" selected in advanced settings on your PC's email program.

Also note that it can take 15 minutes for email to arrive.

For the shortcuts to work (they are pre-assigned) you need to hit the green phone button to bring up the dial screen/phone log. Then hit the menu key, scroll down to select options, select general options and then change "DIal from home screen" to NO. Save the changes.

Now if you press "m" your messages will open, "L" will pull up calendar, "u" for calculator, etc.

GO GATORS!

Default *8830 World Edition POP3 email problem - 10-18-2007, 01:05 PM

I have been reading this thread and so many others, but have not quite hit the nail on the head with the problem I am having.

Have a new BB 8830 World Edition with Verizon, and have successfully set up Yahoo.com email account and my office email POP3 email (XP SP2, Outlook 2003), however, it appears that I am not receiving all of the emails that are sent to my office POP3 email address. Only some email messages are being sent to the BB. I have checked all the settings, have been on the phone with Verizon's BB tech support and have reset this and that; to no avail. What are we missing! I am not a techie, but can usually successfully walk my way through things. However, I am stumped on this one! Should my POP3 email setting have the "leave on server" setting checked off? (However, I know that this can cause problems with Outlook receiving emails too!) I have also read something about "push" email settings. Would this be a better way to receive emails from the POP3. Any help would be most appreciated! Please use layman terms, otherwise, I will be forced to use webopedia.com! Thanks very much! Oh, should we check off or on SSL on BIS?
