Default Task reminder alert issue - Please help - 09-16-2007, 02:50 PM

I migrated over from a Treo 650 to an 8830, and there's only one feature of the Treo that I'm missing terribly. I've search the forums thoroughly and can't seem to find an answer.

Here's the situation: I create a task, set a due date, set a reminder alert for a specific time. Then the task alert pops up at set time - HOWEVER, very often I don't want to complete the task at that time and I don't want to snooze for only 30 minutes. How can I have the BB remind me the next day again about the uncompleted task? Once it has reminded me once, it doesn't do it again. And this isn't a recurring task -- it's a one time task that doesn't necessarily need to be completed at a specific time -- I just want to be reminded about it on a daily basis until I complete it.

I liken this to having an assistant: every morning when I go into work, I want receive reminders from my assistant about many of my uncompleted to-dos. Can the Blackberry do this?

Jake, welcome to the Forums.

You will need to edit that Task and instruct it to be due the following day. There is not a way from the reminder to tell it to follow over to the next day. (I'd like that feature/option as well).

Thanks for the prompt response!

That's unfortunate. I suppose the other workaround for now would be to set up each task as a recurring daily task and then, once completed, just mark it completed and remove the recurring part? Would that work?

I am not sure you created a recurring task in Tasks.

You can create that as a Calendar item, though.

I'd love this option as well. I'm not that thrilled with the calendar, even in Agenda view, for the main reason that my workday isn't a planned schedule. It's a mountain of unending and constantly changing tasks that have to be actively evaluated and selected on a live basis.

What I've come up with....MemoPad (Tasks is another option). I can add new tasks and reminders in order of most-to-least importance. When I complete it, I delete it. If I want to keep a record of completed tasks, I move them to the section at the very bottom, where I prioritize completed tasks. I like MemoPad because it's slightly more suited to my job, and I find it slightly faster when making new entries.

Blah-bla-bla-bla-bla-bla...... just like that old episode of The Simpsons.

Unhappy Another Treo Convert misses the Snooze - 10-21-2007, 11:18 AM

The only thing I hate about the Treo is that only lets me snooze things 5 minutes (calendar or tasks). My treo would let me choose any number of options, similar to Outlook.

Damon

P.S. I also hate the fact that Verizon disabled the GPS on the 8830, but who doesn't. I happen to have a Garmin GPS 10 ($150) which can connect to my 8830 via bluetooth, so not is all lost.
