You need to post this in the Buy/Sell/Trade forum.
Be sure to read the sticky about the rules of posting there - there is a specific format required.

MY BAD! I read that way too fast, trying to do too many other things. I think it was the thread title that lead me astray.
Ignore me...I was never here.

That's awesome. What's the "premiere" website? Not showing up on the normal att.com/wireless site yet.

Just as soon as the stores get them. Some as early as today just depending on when their 8820 shipment arrives. If like the last introduction, it can be a few days before they arrive at the store. Just keep checking with them.

Based on past experience (I'm new to the BB world), when will the 8820 show up on Amazon and such? I'm interesting in seeing what their discounted price will be prior to ordering up on AT&T.

It is on Amazon NOW!
BUT, Amazon did not get a "first" exclusive as they show delviery in a couple of weeks. In the past they have had them on opening day! It all depends on what kind of a deal Amazon can make with RIM.
You got to understand that the 8820 is NOT being treated as a earth shattering device as it is keyed for the corporate market and it is really just like the 8800 with WiFi.

Mine just shipped out as well, it will be here Monday. I got the same deal you did - $125.00 for the upgrade of the device!
Got to love being able to be associated with Premier discounts!
I can't wait to see the difference.

my beef with cingular is. if i want wifi do i really have to shell out another chunk of money outside of an equipment upgrade to get the wifi functionality. i was under the impression that the 8800 could do wifi but is crippled from the software. can someone explain this to me.

I am relatively certain that 8800 is "WiFi-crippled" because it lacks an 802.11a/b/g antenna.
I am not sure why one would have a justifiable "beef" with a carrier that expects someone to pay for a new phone they want to upgrade to fior a new feature, when that phone did not get released until 8 months after the previous version was out.
If that is justifiable, then I would have a beef with every car company from which I have bought a vehicle. Those damn companies come out with a new model every 12 months and these frequently include new features that were not available on the earlier model I bought. And those bastards expect me to buy a whole new CAR without giving me a HUGE subsidized discount. How unreasonable of them......not really if you think about it though.

I'm jumping ship from Sprint to ATT. Can someone give me the lowdown on buying the phone through Amazon? Is it branded? Does it matter if I'm an existing or new ATT subscriber? Is there any reason for me to go straight through ATT rather than Amazon?
Thanks!

If you buy the phone through Amazon (don't think its there yet) it is branded AT&T. If you buy an "unlocked" version from AT&T it wont be branded AT&T.
I dont think there's any real advantage of activating and buying in an AT&T store... you can do it all through Amazon.. and at a cheaper price usually.
I'm holding out for it to show up on Amazon before I buy.

I'm also going to be adding 4 more misc phones to make a family plan...can I do this through Amazon? Or can I buy my BB thru Amazon, then add phones at an ATT store?
Is it a 2 year contract through Amazon??
I also want to keep my Sprint phone number....

You can only add the phones youre buying through amazon. Probably have to go into a store to add the other phones. Id buy the BB through amazon, and add the others through ATT store.
2 Year contract on Amazon
Should be able to keep your number. I believe there is a step for this while purchasing the phone through amazon

I think someone misinformed you. Aside from an ancient model that had ONLY wifi and no phone, the 8820 is the FIRST BlackBerry to include wifi ... period. 8800 never had it. I guess you could say it was crippled in hardware? Because it was never there in the first place. lol
And ... it does not cost extra to use wifi.

When I logged into my Premier Website, the price was as low as $149.99 with a NEW 2 year agreement.

You have to be a government employee and a corporate e mail address that is acknowledged by at&t. It is called an IRU( Individual Responsible User) piggybacking off the state FAN(Foundation Account Number)

Nope. I'm debating between the 8820 and the 8310 supposedly coming out 10/4. I'm also contemplating the 8320 on TMobile.
If only one had the camera, gps, and wifi......
I'm leaning towards the 8310 but still undecided.

The $125 Premier price is the 8820 @149 before a $25 credit for ordering online, right?
Is the 8820 the same physical dimensions as the 8800 so that 8800 cases will work for the 8820?
