Ahhh, duh.

So I should update both, right?

I updated the Desktop Manager on Friday and it fixed my language problem,
but I hesitate to overlay my BB OS (mainly because I'm unsure how to do that).
I have the software on my PC? Now what?

Default BES question. - 11-06-2007, 06:51 AM

I am on a BES and am wondering if I will have to re-enterprise activate? Or will this keep all the necessary info and act just like an app install?

Gnome4007, updating the OS totally wipes the device. You will have to reactivate on the BES, reinstall third-party software, and restore all of the your data (although the last two steps can be automated as part of the update process).

i have updated the software, i mean i followed all instructions and everything happened as was described. but my phone still has previous carrier logo on loading and shows that it's software verision is still 4.2.2.116. the only thing changed is that opera mini was added. i still have lowercase "gprs" sign, which means i cannot connect through GPRS. should it be like that?

Hmm ... I would recommend doing a battery pull for, at most, three to five minutes. If that doesn't work, a manual network select may be the way to go.

If you still can't connect, I might recommend doing a backup of your device data, then wiping the device via Settings > Options > Security Options > General Settings, then restoring your device data, and turning the wireless on then.

i tried everything you said, Spencer, but no luck. i still have "gprs" sign in lowercase. what can i do else? i installed operamini and minuet browsers, they do not work both. my carrier (MTS Uzbekistan) says that i have to establish new GPRS connection, set APN (wap.mts.uz) leaving blank username and password. still doesn't work. if i have to create new GPRS connection, how do i do that?

my carrier doesnt provide any of bb services, i guess, this shudnt be problem?

btw shudn't previos carrier's logo change after new software download? i still have CSL logo everywhere.

The reason no one has responded is probably because, unfortunately, no one has an answer for you.

I can suggest a few things: First, go to options>>advanced>>Host Routing Table. Press menu and select "Register Now." See if that works.

Second, try upgrading to either of the 8820 OS versions that are newer than this version (4.2.2.175 and 4.2.2.184). Search for them and you'll find them. Make sure you delete the Vendor.xml file before you install.

If your carrier does not provide any BlackBerry services, you may have connection issues. That's about all I can tell ya.

When I select Register Now it says that it have sent a registration message, but then nothing happens.

I upgraded to new 8820 OS version (4.2.2.175), which is newer than mine (4.2.2.169), but my BB still shows that it has 4.2.2.169. Please, can anybody tell me, should my BB show newer version of OS after I upgrade it (in "about" option).
I bought 8820 mainly for its GPRS, but now I cannot use it. Any advices are welcome, plz.
