I'm excited to see the new WiFi equipped blackberries come out for both AT&T and TMobile. However, my immediate question is - what can you exactly do with the wifi now? Just browse the web/jivetalk via Wifi? Have any skype like programs been released yet for Blackberry (for internet calls)?

I would love to go out and get the new 8320, but am not convinced its really worth it yet.

I have been using my new 8820 for 1 day so far, and I am curious to know if WIFI is helping the streaming XM radio service? It seems that at home, with WIFI on, i never get interupted signal... or maybe it is just my idea.... and XM radio has nothing to with WIFI... anyone know?

Overall, in an office environment or at home where wireless service is available, pages come up faster... But I would still like to see an option where you could download a link bigger than 3MB or whatever the current limit is...

You get a stronger signal via WiFi plus you have more bandwidth. Plus, I bet your WiFi connection is a whole lot faster than EDGE.

And, the key reason most people have gotten it, is you will have the newest, coolest BlackBerry.

The Wifi connection IS a whole lot faster. E-Mail arrives quicker (hard as that may seem to believe) and browsing is much faster. Voice quality is excellent, but the calls don't go through faster

There are a few packages out there that allow you to transport voice over the WiFi; none of which I consider beyond late beta at this time. WiFi is very good for syncing email in limited EDGE coverage areas and browsing. In my experience Gmail and JiveTalk still require an EDGE connection to function appropriately.

what about skype on wifi? is it possible to make it work?

Personally, the reason I've been looking at wifi BBs is that coverage is rubbish in my area. Secondly, in the UK we are stuck on GPRS rather than EDGE (although O2 is rolling out EDGE for the iPhone). Wifi would be much faster for browsing.

Having said that, I'd maybe only use wifi on the sofa at home so it might not be worth it after all!

the reason I love having wifi is that in my house there is little to no cell service, this way i can still communicate over blackberry messenger and receive emails over the wifi connection
