Default Blackberry newbie,have some ?'s - 09-22-2007, 05:43 PM

I have my Sprint 8830 on order to replace my Mogul. I am a former Palm and WM user and am very excited to move to Blackberry but I have some questions.
I have a regular Power Vision pack on my Mogul and obviously have to get the Blackberry data plan. Does anyone know if Sprint will require me to re-sign a 2 year agreement? I bought the 8830 on my own without any subsidies and am keeping the same exact voice plan.

The other question is a total newbie question but I really don't know the answer. Will I still have push email even if I am not using it for corporate email or with a BES?

The last question is more for opinions for those who have migrated from Palm OS or Windows. What can I expect as far as Internet browsing compared to Pocket Internet Explorer and Blazer? What can I expect as far as multimedia compared to PocketTunes or Windows Media Player?

Thanks.

1. Try to avoid the contract etxtension, but you may fight for that. I'm not sure it will work.

2. Email will be a form of delayed push. RIM checks accounts on a periodic basis (15 minutes, sometimes less, gmail and yahoo are exceptions) and pushes mail to you. Not as fast as BES, but good.

3. Expect much greater stability in the OS. Browsing is fine, but I can't give you a good comparison because I didn't do much on the Palm platform.
