Default Photos have small dot in lower right after transfer to the 8800 - 09-22-2007, 10:48 PM

For some reason only "some" of the pictures/wallpaper that I transfer to my 8800 have anomalies such as:
- Small square "dot" in lower right of the picture
- Small square strip of dots/pixels all down the right hand side of the picture

Now, when I view these on my pc (before the transfer), they are spotless - ie, no defects.
However, after transferring them to my Blackberry, (and viewing them on my blackberry), those defects are there.

Not all of my pictures are behaving this way, but I'd say that the majority are.

Is there something I can do to fix this ?

All are Jpgs, and all were transferred using Roxio Blackberry Media Manager.

Thanks !

You can click here, install JL_CMDER, take a screen shot of your phone display and post it here.

Is it always on the very same spot, possible dead pixel on the LCD screen.

Another "test" is to transfer it back to your PC, but to another directory or something, so that it doesn't overwrite your original. Then view the picture and if it has no dot, you know for sure it's not the picture itself.

Thanks, but it is not a dead pixel issue.

Some pictures don't have this problem, but some do - it is quite annoying.

When viewing the pictures (before the transfer), with a photo editor, there is no problems with any of the pics - but when viewed on the BB, they have that small dot in the lower right or a strip of them down the right hand side of the pictures.

Viewing them on the Roxio BB Desktop media manager also displays the pictures as normal (with no problems).

Perhaps it is a problem with my BB.....

In Roxio are you optimizing the photo for transfer, or just copying over with no optimization? I thought that I once noticed something similar on a larger (2 mb) photo transferred and viewed.

It's the scrollbar. The box in the lower right corner is where the down arrow would be.

I have copied pictures over (without using the media manager) - same problem.

For some reason, when displayed on the BB, the problem exists.

And it should not be any scroll bars or anything like that, as in other photos there is no problem.

Who knows....maybe this is one for the X-files !

BTW, these (same) photos displayed with no problem on my previous 8703e !

It's not the X-Files. I have one photo that has this same problem. I haven't bothered to see what causes it yet. I would double check to make sure your photo is exactly 320x240... if I remember right, mine's not exactly that, a pixle or two off. Check that first.

Yup - all my pix are exactly 320x240, 16million colors.

Hope someone can find what's wrong - either that or it is only you and I who have defective units !

I have found this error as well. It's just annoying. If you change the bit depth of the BMP or the DPI of a JPEG it should go away. I just mess with pictures until it shows up correctly. Annoying, yes, but not earth shattering.

No, it's in the lower right of the pics and also viewable in Media Player, not only when it's the background wallpaper.

Cool I have noticed issues too.... - 10-01-2007, 12:39 PM

I emailed myself some wallpapers and downloaded them to the phone, when I
looked at them in the mail message, there was no problem, but when I view them in media center there is a small grey box in the bottom right corner, it has no functionality, and it shows up on the screen when i set the images to be my wallpaper. This happened on 3 out of 5 photos I emailed to myself. Parents just dont understand!!

Does anyone from RIM scan these boards ?

I dunno. I really hope that someone comes up with a solution, cause its annoying! I want to use the affected pictures as a background, but not with the stupid box in the corner.

ALSO!!!!
I tried re-mailing the images to myself, looking for a change....and there was none. I also had someone else email them to me from another source. Same issue!

add me to the list of people having this issue. I made a wallpaper from a photo I took and it's just fine.

The picture I'm having the issue with is one someone sent me that is fine in my web email but i downloaded it on my phone and it in the media manager and as a wallpaper i have the dead square in the lower right corner.

it is pretty annoying but I could almost live with it if someone knew what was actually causing it.
