Default Can't Hide Number on 8830 - 09-26-2007, 09:57 PM

I have been having a heck of a time trying to hide my phone number from contacts when I make a call.

The manual says
1. In the phone, press the Menu key
2. Click Options
3. Click general options
4. set the restrict my identity field to always
5. press the menu key
6 click save

The problem is that I do not have "general options". I do have advanced options, but there is no option to restrict identity.
Has anyone had luck with this feature.

Thanks in advance...

The directions you listed are correct. Your descriptions sounds like selecting the Options icon from the main screen. Try again.

Phone > Options > General Options

Are you maybe not getting into the Phone app first? Press the green phone button to take you to the phone log page. Then hit the menu key and select Options. Then select General Options. Then you'll see "Restrict My Identity."

Yeah, blackberry.com is geared towards selling product and less towards supporting the end users. There is a ton of useful information there, just different then what is found here.

Hi, I am trying to access the phone options to turn off home screen dialing. I searched and couldn't find any info for my specific problem.

I have a 8830 on Verizon. I only have data and phone is setup for emergency calls only. When I hit the green send key, it goes to the phone, and when i hit the menu key, only the following shows up -

"Help
Call from Address Book
View Speed Dial List
Switch Application
Close"

Please help! Thanks a bunch.

Sounds like you have an IT policy which prevents you from accessing that. Is this a company issued device? If so, there's nothing you can do about it.
