Is there a way on my 8830 to disable the voice command mode completely ?

I don't believe so. You can change the side convenience key to something else or you can even change it to nothing. Many complain they hit the button when the device goes into and comes out of the holster.

I am really impressed with that programs ability to figure things out! I thought it was like older phones where you had top create voice tags. Then I jokingly pushed the button and made an obscene comment about my friend (using his name) and the phone proceeded to ask me if i wanted to call him. I laughed for about a half hour.
