Default Where is my astrisks? - 10-10-2007, 10:53 PM

I have a question for you guys since you probably know the answer.

You know the red asterisks that indicate that you have a new message on the mail icon. (I am talking about the icon on the top of the screen, not the icons for the particular mailboxes). Recently, I have not been seeing these asterisks on the icon after receiving a new message. All I have is the number of unread messages and the mail icon (similar to what I had on my 7130). It means nothing for my icon to say I have 103 unread messages considering I ignore most of my emails. I do however, care if the asterisks is there to indicate that I have at least one new message so I can at least check and see if the message is important.

If there is a setting that I can change to make the asterisks show up with new messages let me know. I am sorry if I didn't explain this very well. I tried to make it simple, but it may seem a little confusing. Thanks for your help.

If you go to Messages > Options > General Options do you have a Display New Message Indicator option?

Display Message Count: Unread
Display New Message Indicator: Yes

Now I have been having people send me texts and emails so I can make sure this is legit, and it seems to get even stranger. The first new message, nothing will happen, the icon would stay the same, but the number of unread messages would go up by one. However, on the next new message, the asterisk would appear. I have no idea what to make of this.

Try pulling the battery for 30 seconds.

Remember the red asterisk is on the mail folder ONLY until you open the message folder. Then it goes away, even if you have unread mail in your messages folder.

The red asterisk only appears for notification of new mail.
