You, sir, are correct. I am a T-Mobile guy, and of course the world revolves around me. I was seeing what the upgrade would do for me and decided to post it. I was not specific enough in my headings.

I love my curve but will love the Javelin more once I get my hands on it! More memory alone is a selling point for me. I personally don't need 3G so this will do just fine as my next device

Wirelessly posted (Sex Machine)

I'm getting more addicted to my new curve everyday and I'm starting to want the Javelin over the Bold.
The proc on the Jav is only 112Mhz slower than the Bold and no 3G. Other than that it appears to be superior in every other way.
1: Better screen
2: Better camera
3: More ROM
4: Slicker body design; glass camera and flash enclosure (yay! Finally), sleeker shape and size (although, I do like the textured back on the Bold), keyboard looks easier to type on, !black pearl!, etc...

I know that 3G will be something I miss, seeing as I am dying to be able to talk on the phone while sending and receiving email or surfing the web, but having DOUBLE the ROM is by far more tempting. I only delete messages when absolutely necessary. Which I try to make never. I like being able to scroll back indefinitely to find that one piece of information that I need. Unlimited email isn't super necessary (gmail archive) but all those SMS messages, like 20000 or so. Without a way to archive and search those messages offphone, it becomes hypercritical that I save them forever. I conduct a lot of business and such via SMS (it's the email of the mobile world).

Anyways, just my two cents.

Maybe I'll need to have both... ;)

Cheers!

Myk

I am all about the Javelin. The memory leak in my Curve is unbearable.

What makes you think that poorly written applications that leak memory will perform better on the Javelin?

Given more memory, poorly written applications will simply use it.

Many (perhaps the vast majority) of people have never had a memory leak issue.

Well, you can get even a 8700 for a full qwerty. I'm going to get the Bold because of it's sexy size, turn off 3g if I don't need it to get more days out of it. hehe.

Default javlin looks good

Yes, the javlin looks good on the specs.
with all the excitement surrounding the Bold, this phone has been lurking in the background.
It will all be a tease for us at At&t users until they brand this and tweek the OS to suit their needs.

The real solution is to have the device OS prevent an application from grabbing more memory beyond some pre-determined spec and to prevent apps from circumventing the OS APIs.

It's an old issue many OSs were guilty of and usually resolved over time as the OS evolves and matures.

And it is still a problem in many Operating Systems. Like Windows. Right?

It is! But not nearly as bad as the pre-NT versions of Windows. Unix and Linux also suffer the problem, as well as the Palm OS and Windows Mobile.

The point is...you're ALWAYS going to have developers, coders, etc.. who write bad code and possess poor programming/testing/QA practices, resulting in poorly behaved apps. The OS needs to be as bullet-proof as possible in trapping those problems. The traps can be in the device itself or better yet, in the development tool and compiler used by the programmer, so the problems never make it to the executable.

OTOH, it has been the way it is for some 40 years. I probably shouldn't hold my breath hoping for change!!!
