Not unless you want to wait a long time.

There is always another newer, better, faster, glitzier phone on the horizon. If you wait until the latest rumor becomes reality, you will never buy another phone.

If the 9300 actually appears, I'm betting I'll be ready to upgrade again since I only took the one year contract.

not really. you'll have to wait another year after your year to get FULL discount on the phone...unless i've been lied to by tmobile.

whether you do 1 year or 2 year, full upgrade eligibility is two years.
some one correct me if i'm wrong.

Wirelessly posted (Its All About the U!)

You are both correct.

The one yr contract person gets a discount but NOT as good as the second person. neither will pay full price for the phone

I read that estimates are Q4/09 to Q1/10.

I am available for hardware upgrade in July 2009. So as soon as this phone comes out, I'm upgrading to the 9300 =)

lucky
i got the 8900 2 weeks ago
and i was kidding about returning it
its probably the best phone i have ever used
by the time my contract is up and i am upgradeable, blackberry would have come out with something a lot more revolutionary then the 9300
2011 blackberries, here i come!

I'll be happy to correct you since you are wrong. You must have been lied to or misunderstood. I have never taken a two-year upgrade and don't intend to. I pay $50 more for my phone than the guy who takes the two year contract but mine is only for one year. And I am eligible again for full upgrade with best pricing after 11 months.

From the TMO Upgrade FAQ.
Quote:
How do I qualify for an upgrade?
You qualify for the best upgrade price based on the time since your last upgrade and rate plan qualification:
  • 11 months if you are on a one-year service agreement, or 22 months if you are on a two-year service agreement.
  • A qualified rate plan is $29.99 or greater with a single line, or $49.99 or greater on a shared family plan.
So, yes, I will be eligible for another upgrade by the time the 9300 is released. To be exact, I purchased on Jan 25 so I'll be eligible on Christmas for another upgrade.

Looks like BGR got his info jumbled. The "Gemini" and the 9300 appear to be different devices. The 9300 is the hot one, an update to the 8900 Curve2. The "Gemini" looks like a T-Mobile branded version of the 8300 Curve. Pointless to release that since the 8900 is out on T-Mobile and is a far more capable device.

To summarize what I've seen on BGR:

BlackBerry 8325, aka "Gemini"
T-Mobile branded.
GSM/EDGE.
OS 5.0
320240 display.
2 megapixel camera.
Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n.
Out in September '09.

Blackberry 9300
The screen will be larger than the BlackBerry 8900, and that will also include a higher resolution
The CPU will also be beefed up. Wexxx8217;re not sure if this means it will include something more powerful than the Boldxxx8217;s 624MHz processor or not, but wexxx8217;d like to think so.
The device is said to be silver (think BlackBerry 8830)
The keyboard is a little more rounded than the BlackBerry 8900
The Send/End keys are rounded instead of being flat on the sides
Styling is not drastically different xxx8212; it keeps with the 8900/Storm styling
It of course rocks quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, and tri-band UMTS/HSDPA
Wi-Fi and GPS was not confirmed, but wexxx8217;d say therexxx8217;s about a 99.99% chance
Camera specs were not confirmed as well, but you can bet youxxx8217;re looking at 3.2 megapixels or better

I loved the feel of my 8300 Curve in my hand, but I've fallen in love with the Bold's keyboard. Best I've ever used on any mobile device. I'd love the Bold-style keyboard on an 8900/9300 sized device. However, unless the 9300 turns out to be absolutely stunning in person and the keyboard equals the Bold's keyboard, I'm keeping the Bold and passing on the 9300. There's always the possibility of some new killer feature only supported on a new version of the OS, and that it will only be available on the 9300. So for now, it's a "we'll see" situation.

of what rambo47 says is true... and the 9300 has 3G, GPS, Wifi (with UMA)... I'm sold.

The only thing the 8900 is missing is 3G

(and themes and accessories...)
