Strangest Problems with Curve 8900 Hi everyone, Couple of very strange problems with my 2 weeks old curve 8900 ~ Rogers branded - Unlocked - Flashed to v4.6.1.133(Platform 4.2.0.85) 1) Camera turns on itself and takes random shots 2) Phone screen fails to enter stand by mode, even after locking. 3) Battery drains in few hours ~ Because of failure to go into standby. 4) Number keyboard doesn't work. Pushing Alt + number keys not working at all. 5) Using the ALT + random numeric keys turns on the camera. To resolve the problems, I have tried the following so far: 1) Upgraded to .133 from .94, Restored the .ipd file = Same problems. 2) Wiped with jl_cmder, reinstalled .133 using Apploader, Restored Contacts only with Outlook sync = Same problems. 3) Simple wipe(Security > General > wipe) = Same problems. Anybody else facing the similar problems with their 8900 Curve? I have owned, used, flashed many Blackberries, But this is probably the most **ked up blackberry I have ever seen(Pardon my french, I'm just really frustrated). |
Return it if you can. Something ain't right. |
You are still in the 30 day grace period.. get it replaced. You have tried almost every thing which folks here would have suggested. |
I don't think returning is an option since he has a Rogers phone on the Fido network. From the sounds of it you may have a lemon. |
well no if he bought it from a rogers store then he still can return it... no matter what as long as he has the receipt then he can exchange it within the 30 days |
You could try. Rogers knows it younger than 1 year, since the phone hasn't been out for more than 3 months. Don't tell them that its unlocked. Most sales associates don't know where to look to check that. The only thing I think that would stop you from getting a new phone is if the IMEI was blacklisted. Try anyways, worse thing that would happen, is they say no. |
those are some strange issues. |
Thanks everyone. Strange problems indeed. I can warrant it with Rogers, I have all the paper work But since its purchase the phone has been dropped multiple times ending in nicks/scuffs all over. How does Rogers handle phones with scratches but still under 30 day exchange policy period? |
Do you think the multiple drops may be a factor in these problems? |

I meant, the phone is not in its pristine condition as you would expect from a 2 weeks old phone. It has got couple nicks on the corner, daily hairline scratches on the back from placing it on table, etc. Thats all. I'm wondering if rogers only accepts like new, great cosmetic condition phones back. Will i get a brand new device or a refurb? Since the phone is so new, i doubt Rogers has lots refubs lying around. |
Take it back to the dealer and find out. I think it's going to be a subjective thing. |
