Default Unlocked 8900: "please insert SIM"

Please Login to Remove!

So I have an unlocked Rogers Blackberry 8900 (In Canada) and I have it unlocked and I am using a FIDO sim card. I got it 3 days ago, and It worked well for the first day. Then yesterday it lost contact with my SIM and said "Please insert SIM" and "SOS" where the signal connection usually is. It lost contact with the sim for about 2 hours and then worked for the rest of the day. Today it worked when I woke up, and then about 5 hours ago it lost contact again with the sim saying "Please insert SIM" and "SOS" again.

Is this a problem with the unlocking? Or could it be a problem with the sim? or a hardware problem with my Blackberry?

Please any help would be greatly appreciated as I am a new BB user, but I really love my BB.

It has nothing to do with unlocking.

That, to me, it more common to an issue with the SIM card. Get a replacement SIM.

thanks for the reply. I think I am going to try and get a new sim.
Will there be an issue switching my service to a new SIM?

As long as you are only swapping SIMs with your carrier, nothing changes. They will simply program an identical SIM for you, but hopefully one that works

So I figured I would come back and fill people in with the problem I was having.

I took it in to get looked at and It is the 6 Prong "Jacket" that connects the blackberry to the sim card. One of the 6 prongs was broken off. I have no clue how it happened.

That's too bad about the warranty, but $60 for a replacement isn't bad. It could be much worse! Hope the new one works better for you
