Default Camera Question

Anyone know how to speed up the camera. It takes like 5 seconds for the camera to "snap" after i push the button. This is no good because my two-year old wont hold still that long, and I'm left with blurry photos! Any help is greatly appreciated.

The issue of 8900 camera being slow is due to it's auto focus feature. I am not aware of any option to disable this feature.

Damn. Guess I'll have to break out the duct tape to get a picture of my kiddo! Oh well, thanks for the reply.

Maybe you should try to focus first... then get your kid to stay still and then finish the click. It should take the picture right away..

yeah, use the right convienience button. Halfway depressed focuses, once that's done, press the rest of the way and it snaps the pic. Just like a real camera.

I would recommend a "real" digital camera for all pictures you care about in the future. Why would you want to use your 3.2 MP cell phone cam to take family picture, when you can get a decent 8 or 10 MP digital camera for around $100?

I do the same thing (not buying you a camera.) I often take the same pic with my phone and cam, sending the phone pic out to friends and fam immediately.

okay, makes sense...

I like the suggestion to half way press the camera button, which focuses, then fully press when you want to take the picture. That seems to work well.

I think you have just nailed the issue right there.

Phone cameras in general (for all wireless phones, not just BlackBerrys) were originally designed for convenience and speed-no need to carry additional hardware to snap pics "on the fly".

The tradeoff has traditionally been in quality. In other words, these aren't the devices that you would want to take your wedding photos with.

Technology is closing that gap pretty quickly, and eventually the quality piece will be there with phone cams. We just aren't quite there yet.

Sorry but that's just a lame excuse IMO. This is not directed toward you, as I've heard many others chalk it up to "phone cams... just not there yet."

Most other phones including those on other BB models all work "generally fine." The OP is obviously not out of his mind to expect his phone cam to snap a pic within a second or two of pressing the button to snap one.

Let's just call a rose a rose and say that the Storm continues to lag FAR behind other phone cams due to this auto-focus issue.

Just sayin....

Fair 'nuff.

Personally, I don't think that's an unreasonable expectation, either.

LOL. Make sure you comb your hair for those cherished wedding photos. I think the 8900 will be up to the job
