Default Import from Nokia E71 BackUp file without the device

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I previously use Nokia E71. I did a final backup via Nokia PCsuite and saved it on my windows computer .

Unfortunately, I sold my E71 before purchasing the 8900. So the file is there, but not the device. Is there any possibility that I can still import those backup file to my 8900?

BackUp file includes:
- Contacts
- Calendar
- Active Notes
- Media (Pictures, Video, Songs)
- Messages (SMS & MMS)

Please help, desperately need the contact, calendar and notes.

Thanks.
-> I'm so much in love with my 8900!

Afaik not directly due to different formats. IŽd recommend borrowing a Nokia, import the nbu file on the device, sync with Outlook or Notes via PC-Suite and then sync your mailclient data onto your Curve via DTM.

Hard luck but it is really not good that there is no standard software to backup from other devices backup files.. similar would have been the case if you shifted from a BB to Nokia E71. All these backup files are device specific... It would have been better if there was something similar to MISMO or ISO standard for backup data on smart phones.

However, when it comes to smart phones, it is always advisable to sync the device with PIMs or MS Outlook.

You can open/convert the backup .nbu file of Nokia PC Suite using Noki at nokisoft.com.

1. Contacts can be extracted as vCard (.vcf file) which is a universal format and can be imported into the new phone.

2. Calendars can be exported to Outlook or as vCalendar.

3. Text messages can be exported as vMessage (.vmg).

Please check the data recovery guide (nokisoft.com/how-to.htm) for details.
